Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well established Runcorn-based SEN primary school as they are looking to appoint a motivated and reliable SEN teaching assistant to support their EYFS and KS1 classes. This is a full-time position 8:30am - 3:30pm.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with a myriad of SEN across EYFS and KS1. Typically, you will be supporting neurodIverse, LD and delay disorders on a 1:1 and small group basis, so the ability to take a pupil-centred approach to learning is paramount, as to ensure that the individual needs of each pupil are met. You will work alongside the class teachers to offer an engaging, stimulating and inclusive learning environment and implement an array of positive behaviour strategies to promote learning and engagement. Other duties will include but may not be limited to phonics sessions/assessments, interventions & boosters, and the use of Makaton and/or PECs to communicate.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have extensive recent and referenceable experience supporting complex needs as well as full "Right to Work" in the UK. Other requirements include:

  • Experience using PECs/Makaton is advantageous but not essential
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
