Sharper Consulting Services is working on behalf of our client in Sussex,seeking a skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO)/Noise and Acoustics Planning Consultant to review and assess planning applications for potential noise and acoustic impacts.

Rate: 40-45 per hour

10 hours per week

You will provide expert advice to ensure that developments comply with relevant noise regulations and contribute to creating livable, sustainable environments.

Duties

  • Provide expert advice on mitigation measures to control and reduce noise pollution.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national planning policies, environmental standards, and noise regulations.
  • Liaise with planning officers, developers, and other stakeholders regarding noise impact assessments.
  • Conduct on-site visits (1-2 days per month) to verify compliance and conduct noise surveys when necessary.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for planning officers and committees.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation, guidelines, and best practices in noise and acoustics planning.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in noise and acoustics assessment, particularly in the context of planning and development.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental noise regulations and standards.
  • Diploma in Acoustics or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret noise data and technical reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a part-time schedule.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., Institute of Acoustics)
  • BSc/MSc/Diploma in Environmental Health
