CREM Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a local food manufacturing business to source a Health & Safety Manager for a 12 month Maternity Cover.

Reporting directly to the Site General Manager you will quickly become an integral part of the leadership team on-site, building relationships and working closely with; QA Manager, Engineering Manager, Production Manager in adidtion to being involved with, group wide, strategic projects.

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Manager to oversee and enhance our workplace safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and implementing effective solutions both within the BAU operation and future projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Lead incident investigations, performing root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide training and support to employees on safety practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance for management review.
  • Collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of safety throughout the organisation.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to workplace safety.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience (c. 5 years) in a safety management role or similar position within a regulated industrial or manufacturing environment (preferably food production)
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, standards, and practices.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in conducting root cause analysis.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong leadership capabilities.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
