Warehouse Manager

Job Description:We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our warehouse for our client based in Saffron Walden. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations, maintaining health and safety standards, managing staff, and overseeing site facilities. You will also act as the Fire Marshal and First Aider for the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment, managing building facilities, air conditioning, fire and intruder systems, forklift services, and waste disposal.
  • Lead the management and training of warehouse staff, ensuring high standards of performance.
  • Monitor staff holiday and absence and ensure resources are available to meet customer orders.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Office to ensure timely dispatch of orders.
  • Allocate daily work tasks to the warehouse team and manage courier collections and deliveries.
  • Handle export customer orders, including transport arrangements and creating commercial invoices.
  • Manage stock levels, overseeing stocktakes, replenishment, and warehouse organisation.
  • Arrange forklift training and ensure maintenance is up-to-date.
  • Manage the recruitment, training, and discipline procedures for warehouse staff.
  • Handle customer complaints, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and feedback is acted upon.
  • Serve as the first responder for out-of-hours callouts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in warehouse management.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in staff management and training.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to create and manage commercial invoices and liaise with couriers.
  • Strong organisational skills, with experience in managing stock, orders, and facilities.
