Our client, a Local Authority, is seeking a Building Surveyor to be responsible for service delivery across diverse sectors including private, education, and local authority properties. This role involves early-stage design, feasibility work, and detailed design development, making it ideal for someone with a strong background in both project management and surveying.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Take responsibility for early-stage design and feasibility work to ensure project viability.
  • Develop detailed briefs in collaboration with clients, understanding and incorporating their needs.
  • Carry out detailed design work and prepare production information to guide construction phases.
  • Serve as Project Manager, overseeing projects from conception through to completion.
  • Administer building contracts and act as ‘Lead Discipline’ on programmed capital projects.
  • Undertake comprehensive professional surveying work including surveys, Party Wall (PW) work, dilapidations, Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance, and Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs).
  • Conduct inspections to resolve building defects, assign contractors, and manage the works effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Building Surveyor in various sectors such as private, education, or local authority.
  • Strong capability in early-stage design, feasibility studies, and detailed design work.
  • Experience in project management and administration of building contracts.
  • Proficient in conducting professional surveying tasks including handling dilapidations, DDA, and FRAs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
