Are you an experienced accountant with a passion for making a difference? This established Social Housing Provider in Greater Manchester are seeking an experienced  Finance Manager to head up their Rents & Service Charges. You will lead and innovate in the crucial areas of rents and service charge calculations, charging, and accounting. This pivotal role is essential to helping them to achieve its ambitions set out in the corporate plan and deliver exceptional value for money (VFM) to  their customers.

THE JOB

As the Finance Manager, you'll bring your expertise in rents and service charges to reduce deficits and ensure all customer charges are fully compliant with regulatory and legal standards. You'll work collaboratively, providing comprehensive financial information and advice to both internal and external stakeholders.  Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you'll manage and ensure the smooth operation of a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The accurate calculation and setting of rents and service charges across all property types in line with legal and regulatory guidance
  • Preparation for review of the annual rental income and service charge budgets
  • Resolution of customer queries or complaints relating to the rent and service charge function
  • Preparation of, forecasts and management information and accounts around rent and service charges
  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations for the rents and service charge areas
  • Lead the service charge statement production for actual costs for issue to customers
  • Lead, develop and manage the Rent Review process
  • Issue all service charges for leaseholders including both annual revenue charges and major works charges
  • Support with regulatory submissions  and  help improve VFM whilst reducing annual service charge deficits
  • Review and development of rents and service charge setting policies, controls, procedures guides and processes
  • Contribute and develop the short, medium, and long-term objectives of the Financial Business Plan

THE PERSON

  •  You will either be a Qualified Accountant or an experienced Qualified by Experience Accountant, with extensive knowledge of Rents & Service Charges within the housing sector
  • You will have a deep understanding of leasehold accounting and producing service charge budgets and customer accounts
  • Extensive knowledge of key regulations and legislation related to leases, tenancies, and social housing rents and service charges
  • This is a hands-on rent and service charge role requiring a high attention to detail and would suit someone that is comfortable with change and development of a customer-focused service, working with budget holders and senior management
