Group Operations Manager

The succesful candidate will be based near to either Manchester or Middlesbrough with some remote working. Must be a senior level Engineering or Operations Manager from the high voltage power sector and must either currently hold or have previously held Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status at some point.

Our client is committed to providing value added power engineering services to Power Networks, Embedded Generation Investors and Carbon Reducing Organisations. Through innovative design, installation, commissioning and maintenance they have a significant pipeline of projects including major private infrastructure network developments, microgrid solutions, gas / hydrogen-based generation and grid support through battery storage schemes. Their clients includes DNOs, IDNOs, ICPs, and private major public, private and commercial sector organisations.

Overview

Our client now wishes to appoint a Group Engineering Operations Manager to join the leadership team delivering electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. Focused on the network engineering associated with the control, maintenance and operation associated with construction, maintenance and inspections programmes. These programmes will include low value, low complexity, high volume programmes of work through to highly complex individual infrastructure and transmission voltage projects. You will ensure that all programmes / projects have an identified electrical operational and commissioning support, managing all electrical and site safety, maintaining a collective work plan, tracking spend / revenue and risks at a programme / macro level

The Role

Portfolio accountability to ensure each project is designed to incorporate electrical operations and company Health & Safety processes.

Act as point of escalation for the customer and the company for electrical operational of both tendering and implementing current and future projects (including Fault/failure investigation and remediation).

Accountable for a total portfolio of engineering projects / programmes including producing monthly status reports and analysis of technical trends and risks.

Operate across the whole of the delivery team as a technical lead, responsible for multiple technical engineering subcontractor service contracts and frameworks.

Maintaining ComCo (CML) Electrical/Operational safe system of work from a data, document, and process control, in compliance with ISO standards.

Provide excellent customer service through clear communication and meeting customer expectations such as; working in the safest manner, only accepting high quality work, achieving customer milestones and outperforming contract budgets.

Promote the companys reputation through a positive attitude and behaviours, good time keeping and a professional appearance.

Continually seek to identify future opportunities to support the businesses ambitious but realistic growth plans

The Person

Academic qualification in Electrical Engineering, with relevant experience

Currently hold or have held SAP status at some time in your career or work history

Proven record of managing teams on complex HV & EHV projects including maintenance and construction.

The role is to manage a team, though sometimes you may be required to technically support projects of a particular complex nature

An excellent understanding of electrical transmission and distribution networks, systems or equipment, including an ability to analyse and compare supplier technical documentation.

Excellent understanding of the Health & Safety and CDM requirements for large scale projects.

Experienced at carrying out failure / fault investigation and devising remediation and repair strategies to restore network resilience / supplies

Hold or be committed with support of the company to gaining professional engineering accreditations

Be an excellent written and verbal communicator, with experience in the developing and delivering management reports, business presentations and cascade team briefings

Analytical thinker coupled with good numerical skills.

Hold a valid, full UK driving licence
