Exciting opportunity for someone with a Science & school background to combine their skills and develop as an education professional!

I'm looking for a ScienceTeaching Assistant to start ASAP on a full time & long term basis at a secondary special needs school in the Salford area.

  • Full time - Monday to Friday 8:15am-3:15pm.
  • Excellent pay up to £105/day for the first 12 weeks.
  • Equal pay to permanent staff in same role from the 13th week onwards.
  • Could go permanent eventually for the right person.
  • Paid PAYE with Tradewind. We don't use umbrella pay companies!
  • The school caters for young people aged 9-19 with additional needs.
  • Students all have EHCPs for SEN, including Learning, Communication, Sensory or Emotional needs.
  • Work exclusively in the schools Science department supporting in Biology, Chemisty and Physics lessons.
  • Maintain & keep records on Science equipment and materials.
  • Contribute to the Science vision and delivery.
  • Encourage users to adopt good practice in the Science lab and ensure correct use of equipment and that procedures are followed.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to monitor progress.
  • Support students with social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Help students with their individual additional needs.

Requirements:

To succeed in this Science Teaching Assistant role, you must:

  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Provide a CV with a full history.
  • Have a DBS on the Update Service (or be prepared to get a new one).
  • Min of two professional references.
  • Overseas Police Checks (if applicable).
  • A background in Science.
  • Previous experience in a school based support role.
  • Candidates with experience as a Secondary Teaching Assistant, Science Technician, Learning Support Assistant, Learning Mentor or similar could be ideal for this opportunity.
