Waites Recruitment Consultancy are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator based in Manchester (Trafford) for a client on a full time basis.

Specialising in civil engineering, bulk earthworks, remediation, complex demolition and deconstruction, sustainable disposal and aggregate supply and a new minor construction works division. My client delivers a full construction service from conception to completion.

With an extensive in-house fleet of modern, fully maintained high-tech plant and machinery and a directly employed trusted team of industry experts, my client can readily provide every level of service required, regardless of project size. This enviable resource, coupled with an exemplary health and safety record, ensures that our clients and partners have total confidence in everything we do.

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Estimator to strengthen our business development team based at our Head Office in Trafford Park, Manchester.

As an integral and prominent member of our work winning function you will be responsible for:

The preparation and submission of high-quality tenders for bulk earthworks and general civil engineering works.

The preparation of Bill of Quantities for pricing purposes from drawings and specifications.

  • Liaise with operational teams to brainstorm target projects to ensure that the best possible solutions are within our tender bids.
  • Engagement with clients for upcoming schemes and provide input during the early

stages of the tendering process, offering advice on methods of working, programme and overall best practice.

  • Attend and excel at meetings with our clients to negotiation and ultimately successfully secure the right work for my client at the right price and risk profile.
  • Contributing the production of detailed project programmes (MS Project preferred) and outline method statements.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director and Bid Team on PQQ / Framework submissions.
  • Upon successful award prepare handover files for our site teams, detailing build-ups, assumptions and targets.

Skills

  • Computer literate, my client utilises Causeway Estimating Software.
  • Good appreciation of all forms of Standard Forms of Contract.
  • Good working knowledge of Standard Methods of Measurement.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Experience

  • Being fully aware of risks.
  • Appreciation of appropriate construction techniques and solutions for earthworks and general civil engineering.
  • Proficient in producing take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong understanding of risk management methodologies and their application to project costing.

Personal Qualities

  • Able to work using their initiative, but also able to work as part of a small busy team, working often to tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.
