Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Damp & Mould Surveyor to join our client. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting surveys, identifying causes of damp and mould in properties, and providing expert advice on solutions and prevention strategies. You will play a critical role in ensuring safe and healthy living conditions for tenants, homeowners, and landlords by identifying, diagnosing, and addressing moisture-related issues.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Survey and Inspection:

    • Conduct detailed property surveys to identify issues related to damp, mould, and moisture.
    • Assess building construction, ventilation, insulation, and environmental factors that contribute to damp and mould problems.
    • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to detect moisture levels in walls, ceilings, floors, and other areas.
  • Diagnosis and Reporting:

    • Prepare thorough reports documenting findings, including photographic evidence and technical analysis.
    • Provide a clear assessment of the cause of the damp and mould, whether due to structural defects, plumbing issues, or inadequate ventilation.
    • Offer recommendations for remedial work or improvements to prevent future occurrences.
  • Client Consultation:

    • Liaise with clients, including property owners, tenants, landlords, and property management companies, to discuss findings and proposed solutions.
    • Provide clear advice on preventative measures to protect properties from damp and mould damage.
  • Remediation Advice:

    • Suggest appropriate methods for remediating damp and mould issues, including repairs, ventilation improvements, insulation upgrades, and the use of anti-mould treatments.
    • Ensure that proposed solutions comply with building codes and health and safety regulations.
  • Project Management:

    • Work closely with contractors, tradespeople, and other professionals to coordinate remedial work and ensure completion to the required standard.
    • Monitor progress of works and ensure that the property is treated for damp and mould effectively and within budget.
  • Health and Safety:

    • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety standards, especially when dealing with hazardous mould and damp conditions.
    • Advise clients on health risks associated with mould exposure and the importance of professional remediation.
  • Record Keeping and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate records of inspections, surveys, and any remediation works carried out.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including those concerning environmental standards and building codes.
  • Continuing Professional Development:

    • Keep up-to-date with industry best practices, new technologies, and developments in damp and mould prevention.
    • Attend relevant training, conferences, and workshops to further develop expertise in the field.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential:

    • Relevant experience in property surveying, building maintenance, or a similar field, with a focus on damp and mould issues.
    • Knowledge of damp and mould identification, prevention, and remediation techniques.
    • Strong understanding of building construction, ventilation systems, and moisture control.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to produce detailed reports and technical documentation.
    • Full driving license and willingness to travel to various sites.
