Production Team Leader - Nights

Location: SalisburySalary: £38,000Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off - Nights

Join our team as a Production Team Leader and be a key player in our continuous drive for quality, efficiency, and safety in our bread manufacturing process. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated team in a fast-paced environment while enjoying a competitive salary and a unique shift pattern.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Labour Management: Ensure labour costs are at or better than budget for manning and efficiency. Optimize labour numbers across your area to maintain budgetary targets.
  • Material and Yield Management: Achieve or surpass budget expectations for material usage and yields.
  • Downtime Reduction: Maintain downtime at or below budget levels.
  • Reporting: Ensure shift manufacturing reports are accurate and timely.
  • Team Development: Develop and maintain team skills matrices, ensuring that all team members are trained and assessed as competent.
  • Quality Assurance: Aim for zero withdrawals/recalls and contribute to Year-on-Year (YoY) improvement in target complaints per million. Reduce product holds on the line.
  • Audit Compliance: Achieve 'Green' status daily for Audit & GMP compliance in your area.
  • Safety Leadership: Demonstrate leading and lagging safety performance, reducing total accidents YoY for the line.
  • Attendance Management: Maintain attendance at or above target levels.

Disciplinary and Communication:

  • Enforce standards of discipline, handling issues in line with company policies.
  • Administer positive attendance management protocols, including first day calls, return to work interviews, and investigations.
  • Effectively communicate with your team to ensure clarity of objectives and consistency of message. Support the delivery of improved employee engagement plans.
  • Promote teamwork, ensuring fair and consistent treatment of all employees on the line.
  • Develop strong peer relationships for effective cross-functional problem-solving.
  • Recognize and reward success through the Shining Examples scheme.

Process Management:

  • Oversee the entire bread manufacturing process, from mixing and fermentation to baking and packaging.
  • Utilize machinery such as conveyors, checkweighers, ovens, flow wrappers, mixers (vertical, spiral, horizontal, continuous), packaging machinery, high tippers, and metal detectors to ensure efficient production.

Personal Development:

  • Adopt a proactive approach to your own self-development.
  • Develop key team members identified as having potential, including designated deputies.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar production or manufacturing leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and machinery.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
