Quality Technician

Location - Sandwich, Kent

Salary - Highly competitive depending on experience

Hours - 9am - 5pm, 9 day fortnight (every other Friday is a non working day)

Our client is a very well-established precision engineering manufacturer whose core of our products are supplied to more than 50 countries. They manufacture and supply an extensive range of cutting-edge precision technology directly to end users and offer a comprehensive capability as a prime supplier. They are looking for a Quality Technician to join their expanding team working at their great manufacturing facility in Sandwich, Kent.

Responsibilities for the role of Quality Technician

  • Perform first-off and/or in-process inspection including the creation of dimensional reports for new or modified components.
  • Ensure dimensional reports or First Article Inspection (FAI) packages are completed and filed correctly.
  • Operate CMM using established programs or techniques to support inspection of components including creation of programs (ideally using Aberlink software) if required.
  • Responsible for the management of stock in and out of the inspection process including rejecting items.
  • Monitor the calibration system & ensure equipment is continually calibrated to schedule.
  • Resolve quality issues through the structured application of problem-solving and root-cause analysis techniques.
  • Complete internal product and system audits and perform any necessary duties as an internal auditor.
  • Support supplier quality engineer or inspection during busy periods or times of absence.
  • Perform additional tasks and activities as directed by management

Skills and Experience for the role of Quality Technician

  • Must hold a valid NVQ/HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • ISO 9001 or AS9100 internal auditor.
  • Will have had at least 3 years of experience in quality inspection, metrology and CMM.
  • Practical experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometres, calipers & CMM.
  • Will have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and use required equipment to confirm inaccuracies.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, effective time management abilities and good organisational skills.
  • Used to working with cross-functional teams.
  • Hold high standards in manufacturing in a high-value, low-volume setting.
  • Will need to be an effective communicator both written and oral.
  • Hold a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access.
  • Must have good time management and organisational skills.
