Job Title: Technical Project Manager

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Environment: Open plan office, next to a newly built factory in 2019, free parking on site, staff canteen with free coffee.

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8am - 4:45pm, Friday 8am - 4:30pm, 9 day working week across a fortnight - with every other Friday off

Salary: 50,000 - 55,000 DOE

Hybrid: Yes, the opportunity to work from home 1 day a week, once you're fully trained/passed your probationary period

As the Technical Project Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing key hardware and software/firmware engineering projects in order to deliver those projects to the customer to the agreed scope, on time, to quality and within budget in conjunction with the Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage key hardware and software/firmware engineering projects from inception to delivery.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all project aspects are aligned.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, monitoring progress and ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project status, budgets, and quality metrics for management and stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary liaison between clients, internal teams, and third-party vendors, fostering strong relationships to guarantee successful project outcomes.
  • Conduct risk identification and management to mitigate potential issues, ensuring project continuity.
  • Use project management tools and techniques to measure performance and report on project progress.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proven experience in Project Management within a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical, software, systems architecture, etc.).
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE II certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and gate methodologies.
  • Familiarity with contemporary ground-based Surveillance Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance (STAR) technologies.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, with a knack for clear and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Solid organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other project management software tools.
