The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead key engineering projects in hardware, software, and firmware development. You will drive projects from conception to delivery, ensuring they meet the agreed scope, budget, and quality standards.
With a strong background in defence or a related sector, you will have a deep understanding of ground-based Surveillance Target Acquisition & Reconnaissance (STAR) technology and user requirements. You will also be familiar with New Product Introduction (NPI) and gate processes, ensuring successful product maturation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary project teams for successful project execution.
- Define project scope, objectives, and milestones with technical and business stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, tracking progress and budgets.
- Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Coordinate internal resources and third-party suppliers to meet project deliverables.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure smooth delivery.
- Monitor and report on project performance using appropriate tools and methodologies.
- Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams to align expectations and ensure satisfaction.
- Manage scope changes, project schedules, and costs effectively.
- Promote best practices in technical project management and continuous improvement.
About You
- Demonstrable experience in Technical Project Management within engineering disciplines (mechanical, electro-optics, software, systems architecture, etc.).
- PMP / PRINCE II certification (highly desirable).
- Proven track record in risk management, resource allocation, and budget control.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional client-facing and internal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Strong organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail and multitasking capabilities.
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC level).
