The role:

Following our continued successes in securing local work we are seeking skilled Quantity Surveyors who are experienced in the Petrochemical, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, Defence and complex manufacturing sectors to join our dynamic project controls team.

You will play a crucial role in managing and controlling various projects and/or maintenance works, ensuring that they align with budgets and project requirements, and are delivered in line with the individual subcontracts / main contracts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract / sub-contract management, cost management, negotiating T&Cs, and reporting, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Location of work is Humberside south of river. Expected to report to site minimum of 3 days.
  • Required to develop and place orders for pre-shutdown subcontract requirements and specifications from various sources, such as historical information, engineers, design department.
  • Manage subcontracts Pre during post event to final account and closeout
  • Providing accurate live forecasting & reporting as required by the individual stakeholders and / or project needs.
  • Ensure client accounting system accurately reflects project and frame contract status in terms of actual and forecast revenue, costs, work in progress (WIP) and obligations.
  • Making sure actual costs are properly monitored and assessed against the baseline estimate all site costs including direct labour, plant & materials, all management bookings and challenge any variance to the plans.
  • Robust project controls and accurate reporting of progress/work done, contractors responsibilities, early warnings, payment, compensation events, risk and opportunities.
  • Ensuring that proper records are kept so that all financial information for audits and cost assurance is readily available.
  • Ensuring robust estimates are provided that are aligned to scope and makes allowance for all risks and opportunities.
  • Alignment to the overall commercial strategy within our clients operations to ensure goals, targets and objectives are delivered.
  • Making sure any withheld, disputed, or disallowed costs are reported to the Project Manager and Project Board, whilst making sure any inadmissible costs are not included within the project/programme costs.
  • Actively seeking resolution on disputed or withheld costs.
  • Actively participate in Contract Reviews and/or Project Boards.
  • Carry out site visits as required and engagement with the site team to drive commercial performance and ensure innovations and improvements are planned, resourced, and being delivered as directed by the line manager.



Key candidate criteria:
  • Strong commercial experience inPetrochemical, Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, sectors.
  • Extensive contract administration experience working with NEC, IChemE, FIDIC and/or bespoke contracts.
  • Experience of dealing with operational and project teams.
  • 5+ years post-qualification experience working within a contracting or customer commercial role.
  • Degree qualified or have at least 8 years relevant industry experience.
