Company Overview

An established main contractor operating in the Civil Engineering and Infrastructure sector, renowned for its commitment to delivering high-quality projects throughout the North East region. As a leader in the industry, they are currently seeking a skilled Site Manager to join their team. The Site Manager role is crucial in ensuring that projects run smoothly and efficiently, adhering to high standards of quality and safety.

Role Profile: Site Manager

Site Managers are experienced professionals responsible for the overall management of construction sites, overseeing employees, and ensuring the successful execution of contracts. They liaise closely with Contract Managers and play a vital role in project coordination and execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organise all labour on site, including subcontractors.

  • Oversee quality control and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Ensure all resources are used efficiently on site.

  • Set out and facilitate work for all direct and indirect labour.

  • Maintain high safety standards and enforce health and safety policies.

  • Keep site records and registers up to date, including risk assessments and method statements.

  • Manage and reduce waste while ensuring a safe and tidy work environment.

  • Act as the first point of contact for clients and subcontractors.

  • Work with the Quantity Surveyor on valuations and measurements.

  • Manage project budgets and maintain financial oversight.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Display and enforce company notices and instructions related to safety, health, and environmental protection.

Qualifications & Experience

A Site Manager would be expected to hold or be working towards the following:

  • HNC/ONC/Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Extensive knowledge of construction processes and procedures.

  • CSCS Certification at Site Manager level. SMSTS certification.

  • NVQ Level 5 or 6 in Site Management.

  • Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.

  • Asbestos Awareness and Manual Handling training.

  • First aid knowledge and certification.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Membership in a professional body such as CIOB, ICE, or CEng (preferred).
