Tourism and Events Manager - East Devon
Salary: 35 - 40K DoE
Full Time permanent role with seasonal late night and weekend working.
We are recruiting for an enthusiastic, passionate, operational Manager within the Leisure and Tourism industry. This new and exciting opportunity is based at one of Devon's leading tourist attractions, welcoming over 25,000 visitors a season and situated in a picturesque setting of award winning gardens, stunning seas views and Britain's finest 7.25 inch railway.
As the Tourism and Events Manager, and in collaboration with the senior leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the business strategy. Reporting into the Head of Estates and Tourism Operations, this is a rewarding new role that requires both hands-on involvement in day-to-day operations and strategic thinking and leadership.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Managing and overseeing daily operations of visitor attraction to include Welcome Ticket entry, Retail and Catering, Maintenance team, Planning and Executing of events and activities to enhance visitor engagement.
- Develop and implement strategies across the attraction
- Lead and manage a diverse multidisciplinary team for both permanent and seasonal staffing
- Foster and maintain external partnership with other attractions, local groups and committees to enhance business profile
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring financial targets are met and sufficient resources allocated
- Analyse visitor data, feedback and trends to encourage strategic decisions and improve visitor experience
- Collaborate closely with marketing team to promote visitor footfall
- Ensure compliance with H&S regulations.
The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional visitor experiences and be a dynamic leader with excellent communication and organisational skills, able to inspire and motivate your team to achieve high standards.
Desired experience:
- Proven track record in a management role for a visitor attraction, heritage site, or similar environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Experience in marketing and event planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategies to enhance visitor experience.
- Strong financial management skills, with experience in budgeting and financial planning.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
