Up to £120,000 plus excellent benefits, 20% bonus, £7,000 car allowance, career prospects.

We have an exceptional new Managing Director opportunity, with a Market leading electrical design and manufacturing business. The successful MD needs to be inspirational, and entrepreneurial with strong P&L and sales experience.

The business, engineers, manufactures, and supplies electrical components to UK & Global markets. The business is a profitable and successful SME part of a Global group, so there could be opportunities for the right person.

Client Details

We have an exciting new role for an innovative and entrepreneurial Managing Director, working with an impressive leading, and well-respected UK manufacturer of advanced technological electronic components and systems. The company produces, manufactures, and supplies to a range of Global customers; business sectors include medical, engineering, automotive, and defence throughout the UK and globally.

As the Managing Director, you will take the lead on all commercial, sales, financial and operational activities for the business from their Head Office in Kent, UK dealing with customers throughout the world. The company has an R&D team working alongside customers throughout the UK / world.

Description

  • Developing and Executing Commercial Strategies:
    • Aligning sales, marketing, and business objectives.

  • Business Development Business Strategies and Market Expansion:
    • Expanding the company’s market share.
    • Reaching new customers through effective strategies.
    • Creating and executing comprehensive business plans to achieve organisational goals.
    • Establishing internal company policies, procedures, and legal protocols.
  • Pricing Strategies and Profitability:
    • Setting pricing strategies to optimize margins.
    • Ensuring sustainable profitability.
  • Competitor and Market Analysis:
    • Identifying trends and assessing opportunities.
    • Driving product/service improvements.
  • Customer Satisfaction and Brand Loyalty:
    • Implementing customer satisfaction programs.
    • Enhancing client retention and brand loyalty.
  • Culture Leadership and Representation:
    • Leading and motivating the commercial team.
    • Creating and fostering a positive company culture.
    • Monitoring its adoption within the organisation.
    • Representing the company at events and conferences.
  • Financial Oversight, Financial Analysis and Performance:
    • Analysing sales data, market trends, and financial reports.
    • Making data-driven decisions to enhance performance.
    • Overseeing investments, business ventures, and financial stability.
    • Monitoring employment, professional development, and employee performance.
  • Stakeholder Relations:
    • Building long-lasting relationships with shareholders, partners, local authorities, and regulators.
    • Representing the company at public events and conferences.
  • Global Expansion:
    • Developing and implementing global business strategies to ensure company growth and market expansion.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A proven track record as a Managing Director or Sales Director or Head of Sales, Head of Production or Head of Operations, within a manufacturing environment. Ideally from a successful hardware component manufacturer which are designed and manufactured for mid Global customers.Proven track record growing a SME business and increasing profitably ideally within a £10M to £100M business.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive hands on person with integrity, an open and honest likeable personality.
  • Gravitas to perform effectively in the boardroom as well as on the shop floor, and in front of customers.
  • Expertise in business development to retain business as well as win new business.
  • People focused down to earth approach who has flexibility of thinking with that would suit an SME environment.
  • Practical experience and industry expertise are crucial.
  • Proven success in driving commercial growth is essential.
  • A background in hardware and technology-based manufacturing Exceptional sales, negotiation, and communication skills are vital.

The successful MD of this exciting Manufacturing business should have demonstrable experience within their most recent business in the following areas:

  • Full P&L responsibility for a UK manufacturing and supply chain business.
  • Established a well-informed, positive working culture
  • Developed financial performance, business development and profitability.
  • Led mentored and developed the senior leadership team across production, engineering, quality, sales, health and safety and human resources.
  • Developed and maintained excellent health and safety standards throughout the business
  • Been responsible for continuous improvement, manufacturing and product quality, efficiency, and best practices.
  • Ensured the business is a safe and inclusive place to work
  • Ensured compliance with all regulatory and SHEQ requirements, steering operational performance using Quality, Safety, Environmental, Delivery and Cost drivers.
  • Conducted regular International customer visits and site visits to ensure customer satisfaction.
