We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Technician to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of quality for our products including grapes, topfruit, cherries, and plums. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of QA activities, from equipment calibration to conducting detailed product checks and liaising with packhouses.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on various products such as grapes, top fruit, cherries, and plums to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Maintain and calibrate QA equipment regularly in rotation with other team members.
  • Perform shelf life and condition tests, documenting all findings accurately.
  • Label and date pallets based on the outcomes of inload and outload checks.
  • Travel to different cold storage sites as necessary for product inloading, sample preparation, and out loading.
  • Liaise with packhouses and follow up on depot rejections.
  • Ensure cleanliness and order in the QA room and during inspections.
  • Prepare samples to the required standards as requested.
  • Attend training courses to stay updated with the latest QA practices and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the Technical Director and Product Manager about any product issues, stock checks, or potential food safety concerns.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a quality assurance role, preferably within the food industry.
  • Familiarity with QA equipment and calibration techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work according to strict specifications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to report effectively to management.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites and work weekends as per the agreed rota.
