Accounts Assistant Sheffield, South Yorkshire Up to £30,000Elevation Accountancy & Finance Recruitment are searching for an Accounts Assistant to play a key role in supporting month-end financial processes. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register
- Assist in the preparation and review of VAT returns and other regulatory reports
- Perform variance analysis and assist with financial reporting to internal stakeholders
- Support cash flow management by performing daily bank reconciliations and updating cash flow models
- Process and email invoices and credit notes daily, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Post and allocate customer payments in the accounting system
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledgers and send statements to customers
- Proactively chase overdue payments and resolve disputes in collaboration with internal teams
- Generate aging reports and analyse customer payment trends to support cash flow forecasting
- Maintain accurate and organised records to support audits and inspections
- Assist in preparing year-end accounts and liaise with auditors as required
- Provide ad hoc support to the finance team during busy periods, including covering tasks for absent team members
- Assist with quarterly and year-end reconciliations and reporting
- Contribute to improving finance processes and supporting system enhancements
