Job Title: NADCAP Quality Engineer
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000
Location: Sheffield
Working Hours: 7:45am - 4:15pm, Mon to Thurs & 7:00am - 1:00pm, Fri
Contract Type: Fulltime, Permanent
Purpose:
To ensure that the company's product and process meet the required quality standards of all interested parties. Where the standards are not been achieved identify the shortfalls and develop corrective measures and implement robust quality systems.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Assume responsibility for the design, analysis, and validation of composite structures.
- Oversee the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes for composite components.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as AS9100, through rigorous testing and quality assurance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals, timelines, and cost targets.
- Identify areas for improvement and lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and performance.
Definition of Key Tasks:
- Design and analyse composite structures using CAD and FEA tools.
- Develop and implement manufacturing methods such as prepreg, autoclave, and RTM processes.
- Conduct material testing and validation to meet performance specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in design, manufacturing, and testing.
- Generate documentation for New Product Introduction (NPI) and train stakeholders on required standards.
- Conduct internal audits and maintain compliance with AS9100 and other relevant standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, enhance quality, and improve overall performance.
- Collaborate with suppliers and customers to address technical requirements and resolve quality-related issues.
Skills And Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in composites engineering, ideally within aerospace, automotive, or a high-performance industry.
- Proficiency in composite design, analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100 and NADCAP is highly desirable.
Key Competencies:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Hands-on experience with CAD and FEA tools, as well as materials testing and validation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
