About the Role
As our Business Unit Manager, you'll lead operations to meet targets while maintaining the highest standards in Health & Safety, Lean principles, and quality. This pivotal role will see you creating a positive working environment that encourages teamwork, flexibility, and procedural excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and deliver departmental KPIs including productivity, overtime management, and sales targets
- Execute and communicate production plans to meet monthly sales objectives
- Lead stock management activities including WIP and inventory control
- Champion Lean principles by identifying and eliminating waste, optimizing workflow, and driving continuous improvement
- Build and develop your team through recruitment, training, and performance management
- Spearhead quality initiatives as part of our zero-defects strategy
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigating actions
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations through risk assessments and accident investigations
- Collaborate with maintenance to deliver preventative maintenance schedules
- Maintain regular customer communication to ensure schedule adherence
Success Metrics

- Safety - Accident reduction, near-miss management
- Quality - Scrap management, customer satisfaction
- Delivery - On-time-in-full performance, arrears management

Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of management experience in a complex, regulated manufacturing environment
- Proven track record in Lean Six Sigma implementation or similar and continuous improvement (essential)
- Excellent leadership skills with experience building high-performing teams
- Strong analytical abilities and process improvement expertise
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Management qualification (desirable)
