WasteRecruit are pleased to be working in close partnership with Alphagen Renewables to help them recruit an experienced Operations Manager.

Alphagen Renewables is a growing, profitable, friendly family business with an eye for growth within the renewables and related technology sectors. Alphagen’s principal focus has been the implementation or continued exploitation of landfill gas on sites which may be small and closed and abandoned by the major operators.

The company is seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of the business as well as helping drive the company forward to greater success.

The ideal candidate should be multiskilled, have a flexible approach, be comfortable multitasking and providing hands-on gas field management as well as generator troubleshooting and maintenance. Reporting directly to the MD, you will be assisted by an Operations Technician and a small team of external contractors who have reliably provided support for some time.

The role is home-based with travel to the various sites. Ideal candidate location is Nottinghamshire or South Yorkshire, but surrounding counties will also be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain business standards for productivity, reliability and service.
  • Ensure generator services, overhauls and unscheduled shutdowns are effectively planned and managed.
  • Manage the daily functions of the business, including stock ordering.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Liaise and develop good working relationships with client companies.
  • Manage budget to align with goals of business.

Candidate Requirements:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in landfill gas monitoring and management.
  • Good knowledge of gas engines, generators and Comap control system operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Self-starter and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Comfortable with lone working, inter-site travel and occasional overnight stays.
