Analytical Chemist 

 Job SummaryTo work as part of a team analysing the company’s products and raw materials to ensure compliance withcustomer requirements and in accordance with external accredited bodies such as UKAS and NADCAP.Operating a range of analytical equipment within the company’s laboratories on a shift basis. Evaluating,entering and certification of data.

Main Duties and Responsibilities• Preparation of a wide variety of samples for different analytical techniques.• Carry out a range of testing following Safety and Quality procedures on a range Super Alloys.• Ensure testing equipment is maintained and calibrated prior to use.• Ensure testing is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedure/specification.• Evaluate the results against the standard/specification.• Report discrepancies in results to technical supervision.• Validate/ certify results on relevant media.• Participate in quality audits as required.• Order entry, general administration, responding to incoming customer queries.• Work to provide results in a timely manner in accordance with planned dates.• Work in a safe and efficient manner, participate in company safety and CI initiatives.• Develop personal competence by internal and external training as required.• Assist with equipment standardisation.

Skills, Experience & QualificationMinimum Requirements:• Metallurgy/Materials Science, Science or Chemistry based based qualification e.g. BTEC/ONC/HNC.Candidates without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge andexperience will be considered.• Computer literate.

Demonstrable Experience of:• Relevant experience of optical emission spectroscopy, x-ray fluorescence Carbon, Sulphur N2 andO2 analysis by combustion, residual analysis by Atomic Absorption.• Working in a UKAS/NADCAP laboratory-based environment• CI initiatives/activities.• Shift Working - 4 on 4 off • Positive attitude to safety & quality.

The position also includes a bonus of up £4,126 per annum (£1,031 per quarter) OTE £45,388
