CNC Machinist


Would be working either

2 phase shift of 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm £17.40 p/h + shift allowance

3 phase shift of 6am - 2pm, 2pm -10pm and 10pm to 6am £17.40 p/h + shift allowance

It is a great time to join the company as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.

Based at our 64 acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a CNC Machinist. This role will involve operating manual and CNC machines.

Role Responsibilities

Operating and programming CNC machine tools.

Working to complex engineering drawings.

Machining large steel castings and forgings.

Slinging and crane driving, manoeuvring large components to facilitate machining operations.

Use of Continuous Improvement tools such as 6S to maintain standards.

About You

The following relevant skills, knowledge and experience are required.

Experience in using both manual and CNC machines.

Extensive experience in Turning, multi-skilled in milling, turning and boring is an advantage.

Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings.

Ability to write and understand CNC programs.

Experience of crane driving and slinging is highly desirable.

Days/Hours of Work

37.5 hrs: Mornings -6am - 1:20pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 6am - 2:50pm Wednesdays. Afternoons - 1pm - 8:20pm Mon -Thursday, 1pm -10pm Fridays. Nights 8pm - 6:20am Monday - Thursday
