CAD Design Engineer

Location: Sheffield, S13 9AD

Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Our client is a family-owned business since 1889, they use their experience and expertise to add value for their customers worldwide.

The company design and manufacture, install and service innovative, bespoke and well-engineered Smoke and Fire Curtains that provide protection, security and reassurance.

The Role

The CAD Design Engineer is responsible for staying up to date with new advancements in CAD software and work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering and wider team to deliver excellence to the customers worldwide.

You will report to the CAD Lead primarily and will provide functional support to the Technical Team in the development of new and existing products.

Key Roles and Responsibilities to include:

  • Produce engineering drawings in SolidWorks and 2D AutoCAD for both customer approval and manufacture.
  • Support the creation of BOMs.
  • Create/check and amend drawings/specifications as required by the technical and support team.
  • Complete technical checks in line with business processes and requirements prior to going to Production.
  • Play a key role in the implementation and support of DriveWorks and PLM.
  • Help the Design Engineers create new product drawings when required.
  • Help the tech support and training teams deliver technical information.
  • Contribute to developing the technical drawing and design resources for customers eg BIM models.
  • Assist in improving the design processes and administration.
  • Help us improve the quality of the technical design resources in customer communications etc.

Skills and Qualifications

  • HNC (or above) in Engineering (or equivalent) ORundertaken an apprenticeship in Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Significant experience working in a design team
  • Previously worked in a SME
  • Experience of using CAD/Drive works/SolidWorks
  • Thorough capability of preparation, review and redrafting as necessary
  • Significant recent day to day working with computer-aided design and drafting (CAD)
  • Holds a current UK Driving License
