We are seeking experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our highly regarded specialist school in Sheffield. This role is perfect for individuals dedicated to supporting young people aged 11-19 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as other special educational needs such as autism spectrum disorders and learning disabilities.
Day-to-day of the role:- Assist in the delivery of tailored educational programs specifically designed for students with SEMH needs.
- Support students in classroom activities, ensuring engagement and participation.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Facilitate communication between students and staff, advocating for the studentsā needs.
- Monitor and record studentsā progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents to support continuous improvement.
- Proven experience working with SEN students, particularly those with SEMH needs, in a similar or transferable role.
- Must possess a valid DBS check on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain patient and empathetic.
