  • Work on a shift basis to support electrical operations in a heavy engineering plant.
  • Maintain and repair motors and drives.
  • Perform fault finding on electronic cards down to component level.
  • Maintain mill thyristor drives.
  • Conduct electrical maintenance on overhead DC and AC cranes.
  • Maintain PLC systems, particularly ABB and Allen Bradley.
  • Use programming tools to diagnose PLC faults and adjust parameters as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain furnace control systems, including calibrating controllers, replacing thermocouples, and managing furnace lighting procedures.
  • Respond to breakdowns, quickly and safely identifying faults to minimise production downtime.
The Ideal Candidate 
  • HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of PC-based software, including Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Experience writing detailed shift activity reports.
  • Familiarity with safety legislation related to operations and electrical maintenance.
  • Skilled in following Safe Working Procedures (SWPs), risk assessments, Isolation & Immobilisation procedures, permit systems, and IEE regulations.
