We are recruiting on behalf of the Probation Services for a Community Employment Leadto assist prison-leavers in accessing sustainable employment opportunities, improve employment outcomes (e.g., securing employment within six weeks post-release), and contribute to a learning project to inform long-term strategies for supporting employment for individuals on community sentences and post-release.

Location: Sheffield

Contract: 4 Months

Work hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £20.07 per hour Umbrella, £15.40 PAYE

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Lead employment support for prison-leavers in Sheffield PDU, helping them secure jobs post-release.
  • Provide tailored guidance (CVs, job applications, interview prep) to improve employability.
  • Drive improvement in employment outcomes (e.g., securing work within six weeks of release).
  • Track and report on performance, adjusting support to maximize impact.
  • Collaborate with local employers, job centres, and agencies to create job opportunities.
  • Collect data and feedback for project evaluation and report writing.
  • Engage with stakeholders (internal teams, external agencies) to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Area Executive Director’s team.

Person Specification

  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals, especially ex-offenders or those on community sentences.
  • Knowledge of barriers to employment for prison-leavers and related support services.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to track progress, analyse data, and produce clear reports.
  • Familiarity with the criminal justice system and probation services.
  • Experience leading or supporting employability projects.
  • You will need to possess good IT skills and be able to ensure work is completed accurately within the timescales required.
  • A current Enhanced DBS check is required for this role, which we can process for you
