WRG are supporting one of our long standing clients with their ambitious growth plans for the future. The business is looking to appoint an experienced and competent environmental professional to oversee their housing projects across the UK.

Our client pride themselves in the value and quality of their homes and have developed and excellent reputation within the sector for over 100 years. They are now looking to build on this legacy and bring on board a Group Environmental Manager to enhance the environmental performance of the business.

The role would suit an experienced environmental/ sustainability professional who is familiar with working on new build residential projects on multiple sites and would now like to take the next step in their career and join a dynamic team of construction professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearheading the drive for environmental performance, continual improvement and environmental awareness.
  • Develop and deliver a strategy to reduce environmental impacts and improve environmental performance.
  • Deliver an environmental management system to ISO 14001 framework.
  • Managing and undertaking audits for environmental practices, processes & compliance.
  • In conjunction with other Group functions, develop and implement an integrated audit programme.
  • Support with risk identification and the implementation of mitigation strategies
  • Incident response, investigation and reporting.
  • Support the delivery of the Groups environmental sustainability strategy, targets and actions.
  • Support with relevant ESG and other public disclosures.
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies as required (e.g. Environment Agency, EHOs).
  • keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives including horizon scanning.
  • Assessing, analysing and collating environmental performance data for internal reporting.
  • Developing and delivering a robust environmental training & awareness programme.
  • Assisting build operatives to enhance environmental performance.

Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in an environmental discipline e.g. environmental science.
  • Professional membership to a recognised environmental/ sustainability body (IEMA, CIEEM, CIWEM).
  • Demonstrable environmental management experience, ideally as a practitioner within the construction sector.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of ISO 14001:2015 EMS.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience of implementing environmental policies and management systems.
  • Full UK Driving license
