Are you a skilled science professional with expertise in physics? We are seeking a Physics Technician to join a school in Sheffield, providing dedicated technical support to their physics department. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, and offers the potential to transition into a permanent position. The role involves supporting lessons up to A Level, making it a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment within the education and training sector.

Role Overview:As a Physics Technician, you will play a key role in preparing and maintaining resources to support physics lessons, including practical work up to A Level. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure practical experiments and demonstrations run smoothly, while maintaining a safe and organised environment in the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, setting up, and maintaining equipment and materials for physics practicals, including A Level experiments.
  • Supporting teachers and students during physics lessons, ensuring practical activities are engaging and effective.
  • Ensuring all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and safely stored.
  • Managing stock levels and ordering specialised equipment and materials for the physics department.
  • Advising on the safe use of apparatus and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assisting with cross-departmental tasks when necessary, providing additional support to other science subjects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a laboratory or educational environment, with a specialisation in physics.
  • Knowledge of physics practicals, including A Level, and the ability to support complex experiments.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy setting.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with a commitment to high standards in the education and training sector.
  • Able to commute to the secondary schools in Sheffield.

Pay Rate:

  • £100 to £120 per day, based on experience.
