HSE Specialist Job Overview

My client within the manufacturing industry are currently looking for a HSE Specialist to join the team on a fixed term contract basis for either a 3 or 6 month period. This role will be covering 5 sites which are Birmingham, Bromborough, Leeds, Sheffield and Nottingham. You will be responsible for providing HSE advise to these sites and will be required to travel to the sites so ability to travel and a full UK driving license is essential.

As a HSE Specialist you will be required to promote a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, providing advice and guidance on health and safety issues, identifying and mitigating risks, and promoting best practices in health and safety.

You will be required to lead by example in enthusing and influencing others in the implementation of the companies' principles and values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide health and safety advice and guidance to all levels of the organisation.
  • Proactively drive engagement & excellence in achieving goals set out in yearly ESH plans.
  • Actively participate, promote, and drive the participation in proactive safety tools such as ESH observations, safety walks and STOP WORK interventions.
  • Drive compliance and support the arrangement and / or delivery of ESH related training programs.
  • Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection and continual improvement.
  • Lead the thorough investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root cause and make recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Drive the development of Safe Systems of Work to ensure that they are implemented for all work activities. Guide and support personnel in the completion

HSE Specialist Job Requirements

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate
  • Membership of relevant bodies (IQA/IEMA/IOSH)
  • Relevant experience within a ESH role in a medium sized manufacturing organisation
  • Knowledge of UK/European ESH standards/legislation
  • Experience working in an engineering environment
  • Contractor management experience
  • General computer skills
