This is more or less a stand-alone role with autonomy and responsibility for HR within the business, with some administrative support.

About the Role:

As the HR Manager, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting directly to the board and serving as a trusted HR partner to our line managers. In this role, you’ll lead on employee relations, deliver HR generalist work, and play a pivotal part in shaping our HR strategy. This position is perfect for a self-starter who enjoys a mix of hands-on operational HR tasks and strategic influence in a supportive environment that values collaboration and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations: Act as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary issues. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees to foster a positive work environment.
  • HR Generalist Duties: Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Business Partnering: Work closely with line managers to understand their team’s needs, develop tailored HR solutions, and support them in building strong, engaged teams. Provide insights to help align people strategies with business objectives.
  • Policy Development: Review and develop HR policies and procedures to ensure best practice and compliance. Tailor policies to suit the business as it grows and develops, keeping the culture progressive, inclusive, and compliant with the latest HR standards.

About You:

  • HR Experience: You bring a solid background as an HR generalist at HR Advisor level, HR Business Partner level, or HR Manager level, with experience in employee relations and a strong foundation in HR best practices.
  • Relationship Building: A natural communicator, you enjoy building strong relationships across all levels of the business and can act as a trusted advisor.
  • Solution-Focused: Proactive and resourceful, you approach challenges with a positive, can-do attitude and look for solutions that meet both business and employee needs.
  • Knowledgeable: You have an up-to-date knowledge of employment law and are passionate about continuous professional development in this area.
  • Adaptable: Comfortable working in a fast-paced SME environment where you’ll wear many hats and have the opportunity to shape your role as the business grows.
