3rd line Support Analyst with a Focus on Networking/Cloud Services

Overview

This is an exciting position where you will be involved in a mixture of business as usual and project work.

As a 3rd line/Infrastructure Analyst, you will oversee the maintaining and developing of a reliable IT Network Infrastructure and ensuring our Azure Cloud solutions are in line with departmental service level standards. You will be working with the full Azure stack as well as the WANs and LANs that the company use. You will be involved in the operational management for the group Azure Domain infrastructure as well as update/patch management of network server infrastructure, desktop computers and. You will be responsible for providing on-going infrastructure support for technical configuration of hardware, software and services and give in depth technical support to ensure their networking and infrastructure maintains a high level of availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

This is an 3rd line Analyst role with a focus on networks. Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Ensure the successful delivery of new infrastructure services.
  • Resolving 2nd/3rd line support calls, supporting junior members of staff and assisting the Service Desk team.
  • Evaluating network and service performance by utilizing monitoring tools and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Improving processes and automation of procedures to ensure efficiency.
  • Continual service improvement and best practice for network management
  • Assisting with the new technology lifecycle within your area.
  • Establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
  • Produce and monitor cloud licence use reports and offer recommendations on appropriate licencing.
  • Design, build and deploy new network solutions with emphasis on security, reliability and scalability.
  • Working with our third-party infrastructure parties and suppliers.
  • Support the Group IT Manager/Director in the infrastructure strategy.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • Experienced working in a close-knit team providing service/support to a 1000+ user base.
  • Experience of managing Azure environments.
  • Good knowledge of Windows Server administration including but not limited to Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP Protocols and printer sharing.
  • Strong Networking skills, LAN / WAN / Switches / Routers / Firewalls, Microsoft Office administration.
  • MS Remote Desktop (RDS)/Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) knowledge and experience.
  • A good understanding and implementation of IT security
  • Self-driven / ability to use own initiative to achieve deadlines & resolve issues.
  • Ability to engage and operate with external service providers.
  • Take a key interest in new and emerging technologies and happy to listen to new ideas.
  • A strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills - in verbal and written English.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving, and the ability to do so without guidance.
  • Able to work with minimum of supervision as well as perform under pressure.

Personal Qualities

  • The role is based in Sheffield, but you can work remotely from anywhere in the UK provided you are able to access a branch on a monthly basis. Travel will be required all over the UK mainland with occasional overnight stays.
  • As this is in a retail/b2b environment then weekend work and outside of typical working time (8-5) will be required.
  • Preferably degree level educated in an IT subject but flexible based on experience.
  • Clean driving licence.
