Inventory Control Manager – 3 month Contract - Sheffield – Salary Negotiable

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be supporting a precision metals manufacturing business, based in Sheffield, in the search for an Inventory Control Manager for a 3 month fixed term assignment.

THE ROLE

To evaluate and optimise the stock control process from goods receipt to invoicing, ensuring that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the computerised system are aligned with business needs. Deliver actionable recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness.

KEY DELIVERABLES

Process Mapping and Analysis:

  • Map out the current stock control processes, including:
  • Goods receipt
  • Stock management and allocation
  • Production/assembly integration
  • Order fulfilment and dispatch
  • Invoicing and reconciliation
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas prone to errors

SOP Review:

  • Evaluate existing SOPs related to stock control and identify gaps or outdated practices
  • Assess alignment between SOPs and actual practices

System Evaluation:

  • Assess the functionality and user-friendliness of the computerised system currently in use for stock control
  • Check for alignment with business requirements and ensure integration with other business functions (e.g. production and finance)

Stakeholder Consultation:

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including warehouse staff, production team, finance, and sales, to gather insights and pain points
  • Incorporate user feedback into the analysis

Recommendations and Report:

Provide a detailed report summarising findings and include specific, prioritised recommendations for:

  • Process improvements
  • Updates or changes to SOPs
  • Enhancements or alternatives to the computerised system
  • Outline potential cost, time, and resource implications of implementing recommendations

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in stock control, supply chain, or operations management, from within a complex manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of process mapping and improvement techniques
  • Familiarity with computerised stock control systems (e.g., ERP systems)
  • Experience in SOP development and implementation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
