Payroll Officer required. Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our team. This is a critical role within the company, managing weekly and monthly payroll for approximately 140 staff members. The successful candidate will ensure the accurate and timely processing of all payroll operations, handle payroll queries, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processes for both weekly and monthly cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Calculate wages, salaries, deductions, and overtime.
- Prepare payslips and process payments to employees and HMRC.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, ensuring proper documentation of payments, deductions, and adjustments.
- Address payroll-related queries from employees and management promptly and professionally.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues in payroll calculations.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, including RTI submissions to HMRC.
- Generate monthly and annual payroll reports for management.
- Manage auto-enrolment processes and ensure pension contributions are calculated and submitted accurately.
- Handle any pension-related queries or adjustments.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in payroll administration, ideally managing weekly and monthly payroll cycles for over 100 employees.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
- Experience with payroll software (specify system if known, e.g., Sage, Xero, or bespoke systems).
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive data with discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills to effectively address queries and collaborate with other departments.
