We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our SEND/SEMH school in Sheffield. This role is crucial in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) as well as those with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The ideal candidate will have a passion for educational inclusion and a commitment to helping every child reach their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, emotional issues, and behavioural challenges.
  • Work under the guidance of the teaching staff to implement structured learning activities.
  • Assist in preparing learning materials that cater to individual student needs.
  • Support the social and emotional development of pupils, acting as a role model and mentor.
  • Facilitate small group sessions and one-to-one support.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working in a SEND/SEMH setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
