About the Role:

Our client, newly established Alternative Provision school in Sheffield, is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their dedicated team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a supportive and inclusive educational environment, working with students who may face barriers to learning, including those with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

As an HLTA, you will:

  • Provide support for students with a range of academic and emotional needs.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Work one-on-one and in small groups to facilitate personalised learning.
  • Support the pastoral care of students, helping them to overcome challenges and succeed in their education.
  • Contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student growth and achievement.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading classes and supporting teachers in lesson delivery.
  • Helping to assess and track student progress.
  • Developing engaging resources tailored to students' needs.
  • Providing behaviour management and emotional support to students.
  • Supporting the school's pastoral and academic teams to meet the needs of students.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and participation in learning activities.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Holds a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or equivalent.
  • Has experience working in alternative provisions, pupil referral units, or with students with SEN (Special Educational Needs).
  • Is passionate about working with students facing challenges in mainstream education.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Is adaptable, resilient, and enthusiastic about creating an inclusive learning environment.
