We are currently recruiting a Litigation Manager to join us on a permanent basis.

Duties
- Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the litigation service.
- Provide comprehensive, high-level, effective and relevant advice and assistance to Incommunities in the discharge of duties.
- Negotiate and approve settlement of cases and claims to the best result and in the best interest of Incommunities.
- Prepare and conduct legal proceedings brought by and against Incommunities, instructing Counsel and attending court where appropriate.
- Perform such tasks as necessary to ensure cases are prepared to appropriate professional standards including the drafting of pleadings and orders, liaison with relevant agencies and meeting Court, Inquiry, and Tribunal Commitments, rules and directions.
- Lead on Service Level Agreements and legal work relating to high volume and/or complex litigation work and/or sensitive matters.
- Develop, lead and manage a comprehensive and effective litigation team, including developing policies and procedures and to undertake Incommunities litigation work to ensure a comprehensive service to Incommunities, its boards, committees and sub-committees and external clients
- Maintain awareness of all legislative and case law developments, update relevant staff as appropriate and prepare briefing papers / reports and / or training upon such developments.
- Assist the Director of Governance & Assurance when needed and fulfil the overall objectives of the Litigation Team by the provision of high-quality professional services, including preparation and analysis of reports for the Executive and Board of Directors.
- To attend and advise, if required, any Board or Executive meeting concerned with litigation or housing.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor / Barrister (ideally 5 years PQE).
- Experience of line managing staff and leading a team.
- Extensive experience of working in legal practice including conducting civil and criminal litigation matters, ideally in relation to housing matters.
- Excellent knowledge of housing, disrepair, anti-social behaviour, SLAs and civil litigation practice and procedure.
- Good working knowledge of Court and Tribunal procedures relating to civil litigation matters.
- Awareness of applicable legislation to a housing provider.
- Experience of working in social housing is desirable.
- Experience of managing budgets and providing internal training.
