The company is a leading distributor of products to the building service industry including HVAC and mechanical and electrical contractors for the past 50 years, and continue to grow year on year.

We are currently recruiting a Business Development Manager with responsibility for driving revenue growth by developing and executing strategic sales plans, managing key client relationships, and leading a team of customer service and sales staff. This role requires an experienced sales expert with excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve company objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends to expand the companys market presence.
  • Set sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics for the sales team.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with key accounts.
  • Understand client needs and provide tailored solutions to meet their requirements.
  • Conduct regular meetings with clients to ensure satisfaction and address any issues promptly.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of customer service and sales staff to achieve their targets.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the teams skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Sales Operations:

  • Oversee the entire sales process, from lead generation to closing deals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales activities and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.

Market Analysis and Reporting:

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to stay informed about industry trends and competitors.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, market conditions, and business development activities to senior management.
  • Develop and manage sales budgets and forecasts.

Compliance and Ethics:

  • Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism in all business dealings.

Qualifications, knowledge & skills

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a senior sales management role.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Knowledge of the UK building services market and industry-specific trends.
  • Experience of sales to mechanical and electrical building contractors.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive results.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK as required.
