Role Overview: As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for covering a variety of lessons within a post-16 environment. You will ensure that students remain on task with the work set by the teacher and manage classroom behaviour to create a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes of students aged 16-19 years old.
  • Cover a variety of lessons as required.
  • Ensure students complete the work set by their regular teacher.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Support students with additional Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in both one-to-one and small group settings.
  • Collaborate with the larger student support department to ensure learners have the best experience possible in classrooms.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a cover supervisor.
  • Experience working with post-16 students.
  • Flexibility for day-to-day supply work.
  • Experience or background in working with young people with additional SEND needs, or those who have worked with hard-to-engage young people.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour.
  • A good communicator, and above all else, a kind and resilient person.
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to apply for one via Reed.
