My client based in Abingdon is looking for a Commercial Accounts Manager to join their busy team due to expansion.

MAIN PURPOSE

Drive sustainable growth by managing commercial accounts, focusing on quoting, purchasing, scheduling, and customer relations with precision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • GD&T Compliance:
    • Ensure strict GD&T standards in quotes, specifications, and product deliveries, aiming for "right first time" quality and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Estimating & Quoting:
    • Accurately estimate parts and assemblies based on drawings and digital data, capturing all GD&T requirements.
    • Submit quotes with clear narratives and review for consistency and quality.
  • Customer Account Management:
    • Take ownership and act as the main technical point of contact, managing contracts from start to finish.
    • Monitor contract profitability and suggest cost improvements.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead new business projects with thorough planning, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Purchasing & Supply Chain:
    • Purchase materials meeting quality, cost, and delivery targets; manage supply chain to maximize stock turnover.
    • Monitor suppliers and address performance issues.
  • Scheduling:
    • Use scheduling software to allocate work orders efficiently, ensuring timely project execution and stakeholder updates.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide exemplary service, maintaining open communication with clients and the commercial team.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify process and cost-saving opportunities; engage in ongoing training and development.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong background in mechanical engineering with expertise in GD&T, engineering drawings, and technical specs.
  • Apprenticeship-trained or similar technical background.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and IT skills.
  • Solution-oriented, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Experience in a technical estimating or commercial role within engineering/manufacturing preferred; subcontract machining experience is advantageous.
