Our client, a leading company in the environmental, manufacturing, and civil engineering sectors, is currently seeking a Commercial Project Accountant to join their team at Shoreham - By - Sea team on a contract basis. Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, this role is essential for the financial support and strategic decision-making in large programmes.
Job Requirements:
- Fully qualified accountant - ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent
- Proven experience supporting large scale projects with several performance obligations
- Proven experience in revenue recognition and profit and loss accounts
- Proven experience as a project accountant, preferably in a commercial role
- Strong proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting
- Sound understanding of balance sheet, profit & loss, and cash flow statements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
- Ability to communicate complex financial data clearly to key stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing accurate and timely financial reports on project performance, including forecasts, budgets, and actual results
- Conducting variance analysis and highlighting key risks and opportunities to project stakeholders and senior management
- Supporting the development of financial models for project cost and working capital management
- Assisting in the preparation of project budgets and maintaining rolling forecasts
- Monitoring and controlling project costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls
- Acting as a financial business partner to project managers and other key stakeholders
- Providing financial insights to drive strategic decision-making for project execution
Desirable Skills:
- Background experience within a manufacturing or engineering organisation
- Experience working in a PLC
- Sound technical finance capabilities (IFRS) together with operational and commercial expertise
