The Role

New Chapters Fostercare is an Ofsted rated "Outstanding" Independent Fostering Agency. We are seeking a qualified Supervising Social Worker to join our friendly and supportive team in Upton Magna, Shrewsbury.

In this role you will be responsible for the recruitment, assessment, training, supervision and support of our foster carers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to foster carers, including supervision, attending reviews and developing professional development plans.
  • Prepare reports for approved foster carers and assist with their ongoing training and development.
  • Participate in case conferences and planning meetings for children in placement.
  • Match children with appropriate foster families and ensure all legal paperwork is completed.
  • Ensure foster carers meet the needs of the children in their care.
  • Have a good understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of our services and use PACE parenting and DDP principles in your work.
  • Be registered with Social Work England and maintain your registration.
  • Support recruitment of potential foster carers and completing Form F Assessments as required.
  • Promote the fostering service in the local community and attend marketing events.
  • Maintain your professional knowledge and adhere to clear desk and data protection policies.

The Person

  • Qualified Social Worker, ideally with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in childcare, family placement work and/or child protection.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Understanding of PACE parenting practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A good sense of humour and a positive attitude.
  • A full driving licence with business insurance cover.
