About Us:

Countrystyle Recycling are proud to operate the largest independent fleet of modern waste management vehicles in Kent, London and the South East. Our fleet vehicles include dustcarts, skip trucks, hookloaders and bulk haulage lorries. Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Yard Shunter Driver who will be responsible for maintaining the organisation and cleanliness of the skip and roll-on yard, ensuring that bins are prepared for returning drivers' next jobs and liaising with the workshop to ensure the regular upkeep of bin stock and shunting for the workshop where required.

Responsibilities:

  • Yard Organisation:
    • Ensure the skip and roll-on yard is kept tidy and organized, with bins and equipment stored in designated areas.
    • Regularly inspect the yard and identify any areas that require attention or improvement.
    • Coordinate the movement and positioning of bins, skips, and other equipment to optimize space and accessibility.
  • Bin Preparation:
    • Prepare bins for returning drivers' next jobs, ensuring they are clean, in good condition, and equipped with the necessary materials.
    • Maintain accurate records of bin stock levels and communicate any shortages or issues to the relevant personnel.
    • Assist in the loading and unloading of bins onto vehicles as needed.
  • Workshop Liaison:
    • Communicate with the workshop team to identify any maintenance or repair requirements for the bin stock.
    • Coordinate the movement of bins and equipment between the yard and the workshop for servicing or repairs.
    • Provide feedback and recommendations to the workshop team on the condition and performance of the bin stock.
  • Housekeeping and Safety:
    • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in the yard, ensuring the area isclean, well-organised, and free from hazards.
    • Adhere to all relevant health and safety policies and procedures and report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
    • Participate in regular safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed of best practices and any changes in regulations.
  • Teamwork and Communication:
    • Collaborate effectively with the operations team, workshop personnel, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the yard.
    • Communicate clearly and promptly with colleagues to address any issues or concerns related to the yard operations.
    • Demonstrate a positive and proactive attitude, contributing to a productive and collaborative work environment.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a logistics or industrial setting.
  • Vocational licence to operate skip loaders and hookloaders.

Desirable:

  • Category C+E licence would be advantageous.
