Police Digital Service strives to be the go-to partner for technology developments and programmes across UK policing.

The National Management Centre (NMC) is part of Police Digital Service and provides visibility and control of information risks for policing. It supports the 24x7x365 nature of police operations, providing a threat detection and response capability for digital services before, during and after cyber-attacks, enabling stakeholders to understand and proactively manage risk across the technology estate at both the national and force level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effective representation of the NMC to multiple external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the NMC and stakeholders have regular, effective dialogue and communication.
  • Ensuring stakeholders have a clear understanding of NMC services including how to consume and interact with NMC services.
  • Demonstrating the value of NMC service to multiple stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the NMC has an up to date understanding of stakeholder cyber risk though capture of information including critical assets, key personnel, major changes, operational priorities, and specific threat actors.
  • Ensuring relevant stakeholder feedback is provided to the NMC in an accurate and timely manner, to enable continuous service improvement.
  • Daily coordination of NMC liaison team activity including incoming and outgoing stakeholder communications.
  • Assisting in development of internal processes, procedures and policies.
  • Representing the NMC Liaison Team at internal and external meetings and events.
  • Limiting the impact of known cyber risks by engaging stakeholders in pre-incident planning and preparatory activities.
  • Ensure that any contractual service levels are achieved.

What you need to succeed in the role

Essential

  • Strong communicator – written, verbal and listening skills with attention to detail when recording activity and decision making.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to focus and multi-task and effectively manage own workload.
  • Highly skilled negotiating and problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of different audiences and situations, with ability to empathise and appropriately adapt communication style to suit.
  • Approachable attitude and comfortable meeting new people and building rapport.
  • The ability to be collaborative and encourage collaboration.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to further own knowledge and learn new skills.
  • Excellent leader with a proven track record of working in a high performing, well-motivated team.
  • Personal resilience and open to change in a rapidly evolving cyber environment.
  • A genuine passion for maintaining high quality support to our stakeholders.
  • Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPVV3) and Security Check (SC Clearance) will be required as part of the role and must be maintained during tenure.
  • Will require a full, valid driving license and use of a vehicle to undertake business travel where appropriate. This must be maintained in a roadworthy condition and insured for business purposes. Mileage rates in accordance with HMRC will be reimbursed.

Desirable

  • Broad cyber security awareness.
  • Practical experience and understanding of operational cyber security environment.
  • Experience of customer facing roles, and knowledge of the business drivers to help operational teams deliver relevant, effective, efficient, and quality service to stakeholders.

Working Arrangements

At the NMC, you will benefit from hybrid working, getting the advantages of both face-to-face team engagement and home working. NMC employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in-person collaboration, however you will also get the opportunity to work from home 2 days a week.

Please note that in Q3 of 2025, the NMC will be relocating to offices in the Wigan area. 

All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been approved before starting with PDS.
