I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Head Of Transport reporting to the Directors, to be responsible for managing the daily transport operations and providing leadership to a team of drivers and transport planners.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience within senior transport operation, within a general haulage, 3PL operation.
The Candidate;
- CPC Transport Management qualification
- Previous experience in a senior transport management role, with specific experience in general haulage and full load 3PL operations
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and driving performance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of transport legislation and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance across the department
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving cost efficiencies
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions
- Self-driven, results-orientated with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and adherence to deadlines
- Able to demonstrate leadership qualities with excellent influencing and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels
- High personal energy level and commitment
Duties and Responsibilities;
- Overseeing the daily transport operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies
- Managing a team of drivers and transport planners to ensure the smooth running of the transport department
- Developing and implementing transport strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance customer service
- Managing relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration
- Providing leadership, guidance and support to the transport team to promote a positive and productive work environment
- Ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with regular servicing and repairs carried out as required
- Monitoring and reporting on transport performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective action as necessary
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the transport team
