GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join a school at a thriving client school in Sleaford. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a nurturing environment, providing essential support to students who need it most.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will have the unique opportunity to provide individualised support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and thrive in a nurturing environment. Your empathy, patience and dedication will be instrumental in creating a positive and supportive atmosphere where every student feels valued and empowered to achieve their full potential. The Learning Support Assistant will be integral to the educational experience of our students, particularly those with special educational needs. This role involves close collaboration with teachers to provide tailored support, enhancing student engagement and achievement.

Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant:

  • Provide small group assistance to students, adapting support strategies to meet their specific learning needs.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour, using appropriate strategies to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Aid teachers in delivering engaging lessons, ensuring accessibility for all students.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Maintain strong communication with staff, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support for each student.
  • Help maintain a positive classroom environment, utilising appropriate behaviour management techniques.

Requirements of the Learning Support Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or working with children is highly desirable.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with a calm and positive approach.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, patient, empathetic and understanding approach to engaging with students, staff, and families.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or special educational needs support is advantageous
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
