Your new role
Joining the highways maintenance team and reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Construction Manager will be tasked with leading the delivery on planned improvements and renewals, both within the local borough and for third party commercial clients. You will be responsible for building, developing, supporting and maintain an integrated delivery team and a programme of works, including controlling project information and managing changes to scope.
In short you will

Ensuring that Task Orders are completed safely, to the required quality standard and completed on time, meeting requirements of Performance Indicators.

Day to day interaction with Client teams.

On site responsibility for management of Health and Safety matters including communication of Health and Safety alerts, toolbox talks, method statement briefings, daily activity briefings and other initiatives.

Assessing the competency and performance of employed and sub-contracted operational staff, identifying training requirements of subcontractors if needed.

Ensure all necessary daily/weekly operational records are produced.
About you
The ideal Construction Manager will be a capable leader with a strong ability to build rapport within the team, you will need to be able to motivate your team and handle basic staffing issues with tact and ease. Demonstrable experience of working within the highways industry and working to challenging performance measures is essential. You should be able to tick off most of the below:

Technical & practical knowledge of road surfacing, micro surfacing, surface dressing and civils works.

Experience in delivering cyclic, routine, planned and reactive works.

Commercially competent, able to ensure forecasted budgets are met, contractual risks are managed and escalated where appropriate.

Adaptable leadership style with the flexibility to cope with a variety of responsibilities and manage resources to suit the peaks and troughs involved in the workload of emergency responses in highly pressurised situations.

Minimum of Gold Card CSCS and SSSTS qualification.

Full Driving licence.
