Customs Clerk - Colnbrook, LHR - Up to 30,000

Our client, who are a international freight forwarder are looking for a Customs Clerk to join their growing team in Colnbrook, LHR. The Customs Clerk will support customs operations by ensuring the timely clearance of goods and collaborating with multiple parties to ensure smooth processes.

Job type: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday - 08:30am to 17:30pm

Salary: Up to 30,000 DOE

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Customs Manager in executing duties to support the vision of making the department more competitive and efficient.
  • Understand and execute business development strategies to move customs products effectively.
  • Complete all ENS (Safety and Security) declarations accurately and on time, including financial, legal, and invoicing transactions.
  • Ensure all customs declaration forms are completed compliantly in line with regulations.
  • Complete all operational tasks on time and report any amendments to customs declarations immediately.
  • Perform ad-hoc checks on customer entries and submit weekly reports to the line manager.
  • Maintain and effectively use the operational system at all times.
  • Ensure accurate completion of clearance instructions from 3rd parties.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all tasks.
  • Maintain excellent customer and inter-departmental relationships, providing regular feedback to the line manager.
  • Assist the Customs Manager with compliance tasks related to customs products.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of efficiencies in customer workflows.
  • Ensure all reports are generated and handed in on time.
  • Complete all invoicing within 48 hours of activity.
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover as needed.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in Exports/Imports and Customs Compliance and regulations.
  • Knowledge of customs requirements, particularly UK & EU imports.
  • Experience in road transport, logistics, or haulage (desirable, but not essential).
  • Working knowledge of the CDS system (Imports and Exports).
  • Understanding of transit procedures and ETSF (desirable, but not essential).
  • Experience with HMRC amendments and reclaims.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible with working hours, including occasional weekend work depending on volume.
